Tough day on the greens for visiting RSL side
August 31 2025 was a very pleasant day in the Copper Triangle town of Wallaroo.
Perhaps the same could not be said for the players representing the RSL Bowls Association at Wallaroo Bowling Club.
The annual goodwill visit to Wallaroo saw RSL Bowls handed a pretty severe thrashing on the greens. Despite some stalwart help from bowlers at clubs such as Somerton, Ascot Park and Brighton, the RSL side wasn't able to match a very strong Wallaroo squad.
The overall score of 206 to 114 perhaps confirms that some of the RSL teams struggled with the greens on the day.

The individual team results were similar with Wallaroo having five two game winners and RSL managing only a small group of one gamers.
Winner of the Overall Best Performed team was the four of Steve Yandell. Not only did Steve's team set up the head for him, but on those occasions when he was down, Steve managed to play the perfect bowl to win the end. Two games plus 24 shots says it all. Well done Steve!

Second prize went to Wayne Jones' four with one game plus 11, shots courtesy of a tight first game loss (one shot) and an excellent second game win.
Unfortunately, entries were down a bit last compared to last year. This team was one of the few that were all RSL Bowls Association members.

Third prize went to Bob Brandt's team with two games and 19 shots - and this prize was decided on a countback of ends won. Just another part of the reason the overall result was so heavily skewed to Wallaroo. Well done to Bob and team.
President Terry thanked Wallaroo President Bob Brandt for the day and praised the club for its great facility. We hope to return to Wallaroo for many more rematches and hopefully a well earnt victory or two.
